Hi, I'm new to the forum and I just finished using Hijack This and I wanted to show you guys my results because I'm not completely sure on what to do. If theres anything bad in it please tell me ^^ thanks

on another note in my running processes I have a process running called Tree.exe so i did some research, and I'm hearing some scary stuff about this... however on the sites I go to it says its possibly a hoax... any idea on how to remove Tree.exe (I've a lot of things and I can't seem to get anything).

I would access your add/remove programs via Control Panel and Remove
Viewpoint Media Player
http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/library/viewpointmediaplayer/index.phtml
It's bundled spyware

Download CWShredder and extract it to desktop
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html
Run this later

Next:Download and Install the free version of Ad-Aware
Run this later

Do another Scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries
and then FIX CHECKED when ALL other windows are closed

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page =
http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ycomp_wave/defaults/sp/*http://www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ycomp_wave/defaults/su/*http://www.yahoo.com

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {3AFF4E5E-B331-2A94-D053-60550AA02C4A} - C:\WINNT\system32\yktded.dll

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {E0E899AB-F487-11D5-8D29-0050BA6940E3} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mswspl] C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CGU9] C:\documents and settings\st11\local settings\temp\CGU9.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Dsi] C:\WINNT\system32\dp-him.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [stcinstaller] c:\installer\id53.exe

O9 - Extra button: FlashGet - {D6E814A0-E0C5-11d4-8D29-0050BA6940E3} - C:\PROGRA~1\FlashGet\flashget.exe (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: &FlashGet - {D6E814A0-E0C5-11d4-8D29-0050BA6940E3} - C:\PROGRA~1\FlashGet\flashget.exe (file missing)

O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.real.com/283ac4bf6971f296ec06/netzip/RdxIE601.cab

Next with CWShredder open---let it FIX all problems

RESTART your computer into Safe Mode

Set Windows to Show Hidden Files and Folders

Find and delete these files or folders

C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe <---delete the wmplayer.exe---it's probably infected

C:\WINNT\system32\dp-him.exe <--this file
c:\installer\id53.exe <---this file
C:\documents and settings\st11\local settings\temp\CGU9.exe<-this file

RESTART in Normal Mode
Don't open a browser yet, instead access Internet Options via Control
Panel
Under the Programs tab "Reset Web Settings"
Under the General tab---Delete files + offline content---Also Reset home page

Next:Open Ad-Aware and CHECK FOR UPDATES
Set these additional options for a custom scan
click the gear wheel at the top and check these options:

General> activate these: "Automatically save log-file" and "Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal"

Scanning > activate these: "Scan within archives", "Scan active processes", "Scan registry", "Deep scan registry", "Scan my IE Favorites for banned sites" and "Scan my Hosts file"

Tweaks > Scanning Engine> activate this: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

Tweaks > Cleaning Engine: activate these: "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion" and "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

Click "Proceed" to save your settings, then click "Start", make sure "Activate in-depth scan" is ticked green then scan your system. When the scan is finished, the screen will tell you if anything has been found, click "Next". The bad files will be listed, right click the pane and click "Select all objects" - this will put a check mark in the box at the side, click "Next" again and click "OK" at the prompt "# objects will be removed. Continue?".

RESTART your computer again

Ensure you have Windows set to show hidden files and folders
Navigate to this folder
C:\winnt\system32\dllcache
Open it and find wmp icon---wmplayer.exe
Right click and copy it
Navigate to this folder
C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player
and paste wmplayer.exe to the WMP folder

Post back with a fresh hijackthis log afterwards

thanks a lot for your help, benditup! I really appreciate it. Hmm but the only problem I had was that when I ran my computer in safe mode (and I did configure it so that hidden files will be shown) I never found wmplayer.exe, dp-him.exe, id53.exe, and CGU9.exe... I dont know if this is a good thing or a bad thing but im just telling you this anyway Cheesy

well heres the updated log:
