It's me again.  I have downloaded Ad Aware and Spybot S&D.  I can do a scan with Ad Aware but when I try to remove the objects I get the "Illegal Operation" box and it shuts down.  The same thing happens with the "Tweaks".

I have a similar problem when I try to run Spybot S & D.

More and more links are being blocked - the help link in the chat room among them.  I am at my wit's end.  What do I do?

Thanks for your help.

I was looking through some of the other posts.  One of the suggestions was to read an article about how a computer can become infected.  It led me to Jason Levine's site which provides a scan.  I clicked on it and the instructions include directions on how to disable JavaScript.

I tried to follow the instructions but when I go to Tools-Internet Options and click on the Security tab, I get the "Illegal Operation" box again.

I called my ISP and discovered the accelerator program's pop-up blocker was preventing me from accessing the links.  Now that is cured but I still have Explorer causing a General Protection fault.  I'll work on that separately.

Thanks,

Judy

Hi jkh, Sorry that no one got to your log, if you still need a hand
can you update your version of hijackthis
Important---Create a permanent folder hijackthis
EG---- Open MyDocuments----Right click an empty spot and select NEW---Folder----Name the new folder HJT
OR create a folder as C:\HJT---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too, also, backups will be stored there.
download from
HERE or HERE

Do a SCAN----Scan will change to SAVE LOG----copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log
here... Don't try and fix anything yet----It is all important
