PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: win98
Problem Application Name & Version: hard drive installation
Problem Hardware Make & Model: samsung sp0802n
Error Messages: none

I am sure there is something incredibly stupid that I am overlooking, but here is the problem:

Installed a new 80gig drive as the only drive on the computer.

The hardware settings show that it recognizes the drive as the correct samsung model, however the drive shows only 8gig, not 80.

I played around with the pin settings on the drive, (<32g settings and >32g settings), but no change.

any suggestions?

How old is your computer? Older computers can only recognise drives up to a certain capacity.
