PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: XP Home Version 2002 Service Pack 1
Problem Application Name & Version: Internet Explr 6
Problem Hardware Make & Model: Toshiba Satelite 2.8GHZ
Error Messages: Can't load Plugin

I have read your other forums and this type of problem but it appears that there is enough of a difference as I have not been able to fix this yet.

I have been running Xoftspy 3.44, McAfee 8.0 build 8.0.41.Engine 4.3.20,  Spybot Search and Destroy 1.3.  I picked these up off of a dialup line.

All three of these will find a 124244.dlr file in a WebsiteViewer folder that it keeps making after I delete it. This dialer keeps trying to go out to a p*rn site and will knock me off line.

I can go in to the registry manually and delete the keys for the easy-search .biz, but as soon as I back out and go back in to the registry they are back again.

I have tried to run spybot, mcafee and hijack this in safe mode with no success.

I have attached my HiJack this log for your review. Please let me know what other information you may need or what you can do to help me.
Thanks in advance,
Terry W.

First there is a new version of HJT.Please download from here and post a new log

http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/

Make sure you unzip hijack this to its own folder such as C:\Program files as this is where the backups will be created.Run Hijack this but do NOT fix anything.Click save log and a log will open in notepad.Copy and paste your log here.

Well, I believe we are getting closer! I ran HiJackthis in safemode and about 2/3's of the selected items remained deleted. I ran it again and the items that were suggested to be deleted are still gone. I also ran CWShredder a couple of times and it comes back saying that my system is clean.

I still have one more issue. I am only using AOL to establish a connection on dialup.  I have been and want use IE6 as my web browser.  I no longer can establish communications to web sites. I want to use fmtcs.com as my default home page. It now stays as my default page, but I can't connect to it. For that matter, I can't connect to any websites. I can if I "surf" through AOL. I can download email with Outlook 2002.

Attached is my new HiJack log and also the error page from IE6. I clecked on "Check Network Settings" but still can not display web sites.

I have checked and double checked the proxy settings and that did not make a difference.

I thought that I would do a system restore tp last known good configuration using System Tools in Accessories.  I comment came back that IE6 had been removed, did I want to update my desk top.

My Software is 1500 miles away.

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Terry

I did an IE6 repair. I also reloaded IE6 with service pack 1 and called AOL. They say it is an IE6 problem but I am not convinced.
Below is my pertinent information with another description of my problem.  All of your help removing my trojan worked. I hope you can help me with this. Is Java or a Java Script hurting me? What do I need Java for? Can I remove Java software?

Operating System Version: XP Home Edition Version 2002 SP1
Problem Application Name & Version: IE6 Service Pack 1
Problem Hardware Make & Model: Toshiba Satellite 2.80Ghz
Error Messages: Can Not Find Server

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am using a dial up away from home. I am using AOL 9.0 Optimize as my dial connection, I minimixe it in the back ground but want to use IE6 as my browser. If I log on with AOL, the AOL browser does work. I took my laptop to an office with LAN and downloaded and reloaded IE6. IE6 works when I am hooked up to the LAN connection but can not find pages when using dialup through AOL. It seems that there is some sort of interface missing.

This scenario did work earlier in the week. I picked up a couple of viruses and per mytechsupport, I ran HiJackthis and CWShredder. That worked great and finally got rid of a very difficult dialer trojan.

I have tried using proxy settings and no proxy settings, it made no difference either way.

Did something get deleted that shouldn't have from the virus clean?
I have been reading other articles and I am wondering about Java Script programs. Do I need those?

Please let me know if you have any ideas or what info I can provide to you.

Thanks in advance,
Terry W.

You can if you wish turn off Java script as a test.Go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced you can untick it in here. You can always test further by reinstalling all the backup files that Hijack has removed.
