PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:w98
Problem Application Name & Version:not sure
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:none

The past few weeks this has started occurring..
When I click on links while on the net, they usually open.  But the links that are java type/javascript will not open.  When I put the mouse over the link, I can see on the taskbar at the bottom that it is java-type link.  When I click to open, nothing happens..no error message, nothing.  I tried right clicking on them and opening in a new window.  The window opens but is blank.  I tried right clicking on the link and "save as..." and a pop up says unable to download.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

And you are trying to open it with which browser?

Have you updated your Java Virtual Machine??

I am using IE 6.0.  I thought maybe I had a virus, but when I tried to run Norton, I couldn't, because its main window is Java.  I then tried windows update, but when I clicked on the "scan computer for updates"  it too was Java and didn't work.  Finally, I had a freind download and burn IE 6.1 onto a disk.  I reinstalled IE and everything is working great now.  Thanks for the help.
