Hi Jon
Close your browser window, run hjt in safe mode and fix these items.Any files/folders that I have highlighted  will also need to be removed from your hard drive as well as the log.   Make sure to have your system set to show hidden files and folders..  www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html while still in safe mode, run "CWshreader".Post a new log when finished....

As for prevention an good firewall and anti virus scanner and maybe "SpywareBlaster" (from my list) to help stop the stuff from being installed. Also a weekly scan with "Adaware" but make sure you keep them all updated.Even then, some will still slip through.

Hi there,

Thanks for your help, seems to be running exceelent now apart from one problem, I can't get my system back to the correct display setting, everything I go into the display properties and change them to 'High Colour (16 bit) when it restarts it'll be back at 16 colours 640x480 pixels. I can still play music, access the net but everything is very blocky in this 16 color mode.

here's my log :

You can use HijackThis for that:

Here's the information on whats' happening when I switch on the pc :

List at start, safe mode, normal etc ... I choose Normal
Freezes on windows 98 screen and after 1/2 minutes it restarts itself.
Back at the list of options again, Normal again.
Freezes on W98 screen, then blue screen with windows message
"A fatal exception OE has occured at 0028 : C066D283. The current application will be terminated"

CTRL/ALT/DELETE to restart, so i press this. Choose Normal, freezes then comes through onto the desktop but with the wrong display settings, 16 colours. And when I correct the display setting, it starts acting up again with the freezing when i reboot and I'll manage to get to the desktop. Can access the net and play music and such but everythings blocky.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jon

All I can suggest it to try turning off your firewall and virus scanner if you have them.
