hey all. i keep getting popups using IE and they just wont stop. i have run Norton, Adaware, Spybot. and they still havent been able to fix it. here is my hijackthis report. a little research into the tasks has given me the idea that TpKmapMn.exe shouldnt be on there and also autp.exe is said to be a known backdoor program. just looking for some confirmation and help as to what to do.

Delete your version of hijackthis, it is out of date

Important---Create a permanent folder hijackthis
EG---- Open MyDocuments----Right click an empty spot and select NEW---Folder----Name the new folder HJT
OR create a folder as C:\HJT---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too, also, backups will be stored there.
redownload from
HERE or HERE

Could you Download GetServices.zip
Unzip it to a folder
Double click on the Getservice.bat file to run it. This will create and open a text file named getservice.txt in the same folder.
getservice.txt will list all active Services

Please attach it in your reply, Simply click the "Insert File Attachment" below the reply box
Browse to getservice.txt---Right click on it and Select it
Click the Upload File
and post back with a Fresh hijackthis log

Set Windows to Show Hidden Files and Folders

Navigate to this file, I can find no info on it
C:\WINDOWS\System32\mxv.exe <--file

Right click on it----properties---version
Do you know what it is related too?
Could you submit it to Kapersky's for a free virus scan
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus
Simply use the Browse button to navigate to the file
Right click on it-----Select---Submit
I will assume it is bad for now!

===Create a New folder on your desktop, call it Aboutbuster
Download to desktop About:Buster
by RubbeR Ducky
Unzip it to that new folder===Run this later

Access your Add/Remove Programs via Control Panel and remove
WinUpdates and Twain-Tech if it exists

RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE

Find and delete these files or folders if they exist
C:\WINDOWS\mxTarget.dll <--this file
Search for twaintec.dll also, possibly in the C:Windows\System folder
C:\WINDOWS\wupdt.exe <--file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\udonzti.exe <--file
C:\Documents and Settings\Primary\Application Data\autp.exe <--file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\mxv.exe <--file

Stay in Safe mode
Do another Scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries
and then FIX CHECKED when ALL other windows are closed

That looks better...
Do you still have Spybot 1.3 installed
Can you navigate to this folder
Normally Spybot is installed in this directory
C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy
and let me know if you can find
SDHelper.dll
We can replace it if it's missing

Can you also open Hijackthis>>>Config>>>Misc Tools>>>Open Hosts File Manager>>>>Click "Open in Notepad"
Copy and paste the Whole contents of the notepad back here

Forgot to ask, is everything running better? Any more popups

You can see by your GetServices.txt that you have Messenger on Autostart---This can cause unwanted popups even if the browser is closed...... I'm not sure if you need it running but most have it disabled, In Windows XP Service Pack2 it's disabled by default
If you don't need it running
Go to START>>>RUN>>>type in services.msc and hit Enter
In the next window, look on the right hand side for this service
name---- Messenger

Double click on it--- STOP the service--
In the drop down menu, change the startup type to Disabled
from Automatic
You can do the Same for "Alerter" if you wish

You should install these 2 apps., they add extra security while
silently protecting you, without running in the background

SpywareBlaster by JavaCool---will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies
Install---Check for Updates---Enable all protection
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

IE-Spyad---IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
Here is a tutorial and download link
TUTORIAL==http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtutorial=53
Download link==https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm#IESPYAD
Scroll down and click on IE-SPYAD.EXE Free!

With both, Check for updates every couple of weeks
