Hi,

We are interested to find out what our members think about our forums.

The suggestions has been proposed to change our forum application. We are interested in finding out what you think our new forums should be or if we should remain on Snitz Forums.

Some suggestions were:

I like the idea about a survey, kind of curious what others think.
I'm use to the look and feel of the forum, but I do find that Invision
and vBulletin have a nice feel to them too.
I know Jee has mentioning phpBB, kind of curious if he has some input.

If I had a choice, and we had to go one way or another, I think I would lean towards the Invision side, but I'm happy either way Smiley

I mentioned phpBB yes, but it was more in me wondering why MTS used Snitz. I got a good enough answer on that to let it go.

The other forums I got to use phpBB and YaBB, with phpBB being used by just about anyone setting up a forum. I think MTS should use the forum application that they think fits best to them, which is easy to maintain, easy to upgrade.

I also wouldn't want to force Admin to spend money on a forum. So that scratches vBulletin. For even if he set up a Pay Pall account, not many of the people around here would pay for it, plus it makes it feel like a closed off forum, one that you have to pay for to get an answer on. Let's try not to go there.

Having leisurely spent my time here in the past few weeks, I got re-acquainted with Snitz 2000. It's not a bad forum, although my previous answer here went up in smoke again since I wasn't logged on and the forum doesn't force me to log on before I start a post. Wink
(Yes, I know, no mod for that or we blame Mozilla Grin)

Knowing that I can't leave you a good answer, I think that in the end it'll work out. How's that for a non-answer? Tongue

Invision board has proven to be the most efficient, user friendly and certainly the most presentable.   Smiley

Have a look at for example <http://www.itaun.com> and you will see that it works out very well.   Grin

Shoot, I have no problem with the way it looks now. Everything seems to be self explainatory, and navigation is a breeze. If it were me....I'd say why fix it if it aint broke. BTW.. you all do a wonderful job here.

I have a copy of this;

quote:
Invision Portal v3.1 Final Build 0.32 - Released December 6 2004

Not just a simple message board, Invision Portal portal is a complete ready-to-run Web portal system. With this pre-built application source code you can create and manage users, membership, content, site layouts, events, news, links, downloads, guestbook, discussion forums, and more. The design is easily changed via style sheets and an online color editor. Access or SQL database support. Full source code included.

I know it'd be a pain, you'd probably have to redo the whole site. If you're interested e-mail me. Zedd129@gmail.com

Thanks for the offer but if I decide to go with a new forum/portal system I would probably purchase it or use an open source system. I wouldn't want my site to use pirated software and then turn around and have rules against it!

Since the migration was done, I am closing this thread.

Thank you all for your input...

We went with Simple Machines Forum (SMF)
