PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: Windows ME
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

Hi - a friend sent me here. She said you'd be able to help me. My anti-virus program is AVG and yesterday, it detected 3 viruses. It healed one, quarantined another, but said it couldn't do anything about the last one. That one is called "Trojan horse Proxy.7.BF" I've tried to find a removal tool in other places but can't - nothing written in English, anyway! Smiley Can someone tell me what to do?

Thanks so much!

Let's take a closer look

Would you please download Hijackthis---Important---Create a permanent folder for hijackthis
EG---- Open MyDocuments----Right click an empty spot and select NEW---Folder----Name the new folder HJT
OR create a folder as C:\HJT---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too, also, backups will be stored there.
download from
HERE or HERE

Do a SCAN----Scan will change to SAVE LOG----copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log
here... Don't try and fix anything yet----It is all important

Download and save to desktop CWShredder
Don't run it yet

Ensure that AVG is right up to date, check for updates

Download and Install the free version of Ad-Aware
After installation-CHECK FOR UPDATES
Run this later

Disconnect from the NET

Disable System Restore
http://vil.nai.com/vil/SystemHelpDocs/DisableSysRestore.htm

Do another Scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries
and then FIX CHECKED when ALL other windows are closed

After you have fix checked and closed hijackthis
Open up Just CWShredder and let it FIX all problems

RESTART your computer in Safe Mode

===Do a DiskCleanup>>START----Run---type in cleanmgr
Ensure that Temp and Temporary Internet Files are checked

Do another Scan with AVG in safe mode
Afterwards run CWShredder one more time

RESTART back in Normal Mode
Enable System Restore

Open up Ad-Aware, stay disconnected from the NET
Ensure you updated earlier
Do a Full System Scan
RESTART your computer to finish the Cleaning process

Do another scan and post back a Fresh hijackthis log

I have your instructions printed out. I do have AdAware as well as Spybot and run them fairly regularly. At the moment, it's late and i probably won't be able to stay awake long enough to do all this, but i will tomorrow and come back here to post a new log.

K - Safe Mode - i'm not entirely sure how to do this. I've done it before - hit F8, i think, at a certain point when logging on? Or is that way back when i had Windows 95? Smiley

Anyway, thanks for your help so far!

You can use the f8 method to enter safe mode or use the directions from the link I supplied

Also, ensure your running the latest version of Spybot and Ad-Aware
Spybot 1.3
Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05

These are the AdAware details:
Reference Number : 0R150 05.07.2003
Internal build : 683

Spybot S & D 1.2
Latest detection update: July 23, 2003

All instructions carried out - disabling system restore, the Safe Mode thing, etc. I did all that, shredded stuff a couple of times, restored things, ran scans, etc. (felt like a pro! LOL)

Anyway, here is the log:

I do have AdAware as well as Spybot and run them fairly regularly

That's good to run them Regularly, but your versions are both Terribly out of date

Can you do me a favor
Access your Add/Remove Programs via Control Panel
Uninstall Ad-Aware and Also Spybot

Next: Download and Install the free version of Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05
After installation-CHECK FOR UPDATES
Download the updates
Do a Full system scan----Remove All Critical objects
RESTART your computer to finish the cleaning process

After Restart
Download and Install Spybot S&D 1.3
After installation--SEARCH FOR UPDATES
Download the updates
Check for Problems---FIX everything in RED
RESTART your computer again

Post back one more Fresh hijackthis log and let me know if you are still having troubles

P.S. Ad-Aware and Spybot are both 2 great programs, I have them both
But they must be kept up to date
Whenever you feel it is time to run a scan with Either, ensure you Check for Updates prior to running them....

Btw, when i was running AdAware, a red screen popped up with the virus info on it. I was able to tell it to "Heal", so with any luck, that did it! Should i run my AVG again right now? I guess it wouldn't hurt, eh?
