Let's try and get it fixed up then fourstar and keep it that way

I'll be online the next couple of hours, so if you do the suggested and post back I'll look for your post

Download and Install the free version of Ad-Aware
After installation-CHECK FOR UPDATES
Do a Full system scan----Remove All Critical objects
RESTART your computer to finish the cleaning process

Download and Install Spybot S&D 1.3
After installation--SEARCH FOR UPDATES
Check for Problems---FIX everything in RED
RESTART your computer one more time to finish cleaning

Your running an outdated version of hijackthis and it's running from the temp directory, let's update your version and save it to a permanent folder. Here's my canned speech

Would you please download Hijackthis---Important---Create a permanent folder for hijackthis
EG---- Open MyDocuments----Right click an empty spot and select NEW---Folder----Name the new folder HJT
OR create a folder as C:\HJT---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too, also, backups will be stored there.
download from
HERE or HERE

Do a SCAN----Scan will change to SAVE LOG----copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log
here... Don't try and fix anything yet----It is all important

I'm going to copy and paste what I posted you in my first reply

quote:
Would you please download Hijackthis---Important---Create a permanent folder for hijackthis
EG---- Open MyDocuments----Right click an empty spot and select NEW---Folder----Name the new folder HJT
OR create a folder as C:\HJT---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too, also, backups will be stored there.
download from
HERE or HERE

I'll add this-->>>Choose SAVE TO DISK rather than OPEN

Do a SCAN----Scan will change to SAVE LOG----copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log
here... Don't try and fix anything yet----It is all important

Your version of hijackthis is out of date, please do the above and post back a fresh log, thanks

Is Free Online games the preferred start page in IE?

Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad) hit Enter
Copy the contents of the Quote box to notepad
In notepad click on File>>Save as
Name the file as search.reg
Change the Save as Type to All Files
This will reset the urlsearchhooks to default
Save this file on the desktop, well need this later, don't run it yet
quote:
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\DefaultPrefix]
@="http://"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes]
"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\URLSearchHooks]
"{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497}"=""

Do another Scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries
and then FIX CHECKED when ALL other windows are closed, including this one

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SVCRT20M] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SVCRT20M.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [axzujrndxo] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\pfnhkl.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [EbatesMoeMoneyMaker0] "C:\PROGRAM FILES\EBATES_MOEMONEYMAKER\EbatesMoeMoneyMaker0.exe"

O9 - Extra button: Ebates - {6685509E-B47B-4f47-8E16-9A5F3A62F683} - file://C:\PROGRAM FILES\EBATES_MOEMONEYMAKER\Sy350\Tp350\scri350a.htm (HKCU)

Optionally, fix the next ones too, there NOT needed on startup, programs work fine without them, considered resource hogs
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\QTTASK.EXE" -atboottime
O4 - Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe

RESTART your computer into SAFE MODE

Access your Add/Remove Programs via Control Panel and uninstall if found
EBATES MOE MONEYMAKER

Find and delete these files or folders if they exist
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SVCRT20M.exe <--this file
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\pfnhkl.exe <--file
C:\PROGRAM FILES\EBATES_MOEMONEYMAKER <--this folder

Navigate to these folders and delete the WHOLE contents or whatever you can, but DON'T delete the temp directories themselves
C:\WINDOWS\TEMP <--delete the whole contents, including subfolders
C:\WINDOWS\TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES <--delete the Whole contents

Stay in safe mode
Double click on search.reg and allow it to merge to the registry

RESTART back in Normal mode
Don't open a browser yet, instead access Internet Options via Control Panel
Under the Programs tab "Reset Web Settings"
Under the General tab---Reset home page

Post back with a Fresh hijackthis log afterwards and let me know how everythings running

Do you know what this entry is related too?
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [CCclean] Rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\WINDOWS\inf\CCclean.inf,DefaultUninstall

Looks good then
You may want to visit Windows updates and get ALL latest Critical updates and service packs
Simply Scan for Updates
The ones you want will be under CRITICAL UPDATES AND SERVICE PACKS Smiley
Don't get the recommended unless wanted
Disable AV before installing the updates to ensure no conflicts

First, if they haven't done it for a while you may want to run a diskdefragment
Do this in safe mode and shut down any screensaver and set power options to always on
Run a Scandisk (Set to automatically fix errors) first and then run
Disk Defragmenter
START>>>PROGRAMS>>>>ACCESSORIES>>>SYSTEM TOOLS

You should install these 2 apps., they add extra security while
silently protecting you, without running in the background

SpywareBlaster by JavaCool---will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies
Install---Check for Updates---Enable all protection
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

IE-Spyad---IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
Here is a tutorial and download link
TUTORIAL==Link to Tutorial
Download link==Download link
Scroll down and click on IE-SPYAD.EXE Free!

With both, Check for updates every couple of weeks
Stay safe Smiley

I'll lock this topic soon as your problems seem resolved

Have hijackthis fix it...

This entry

Do you still have McAfee's installed, I see Norton's installed
Having more than one AV running on startup may cause conflicts and system slowdowns
