PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

Yes, I have read the other posts on ad-w-a-r-e but my problem is not resolved.  I clicked on a site last night that installed a lot of **** on my computer.  I would a appreciate any help that I can get.  I have used ad-aware to clean up a bunch of stuff, but I'm still getting popups from ad-w-a-r-e that report the information listed.  Some of the other things added to my computer are: Power Scan, EARN, Disabled Startup Items (empty folder).  They don't seem to be slowing down the computer or anything, but the frequent popup from ad-w-a-r-e is really annoying!  I have used HijackThis to remove the last three IP's of my folloing list of hosts...  Tell me what you think.

Okay, ran HijackThis in Safe mode and cleared those three IP's again (the ones not starting with 127) and restarted back in Windows (I'm using windows ME) and they are still there!  Grrr...

Please download
http://cexx.org/lspfix.htm

Then use these instructions to remove the bad DLL:

1. Run LSPFix.
2. Check 'I know what I'm doing'.
3. Select lspak.dll
.
4. Click the right-pointing arrow (moves it to the "remove" page).
5. Click 'Finished'.
6. Restart your computer in "Safe Mode" (F5 or F8 when starting Windows).
7. Delete the following file: c:\windows\system\lspak.dll

8. Restart your computer and bring it up in normal mode.

Please download and run the following programs:

AD-AWARE

Go here: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
and download Ad-Aware SE Personal

Install the program and launch it.

First, in the bottom right-hand corner of the main window click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

Then, in the main window: Click Start and under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.

Then, deselect Search for negligible risk entries.

To start the scan, click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and then click Next)

Restart your computer.

SPYBOT SEARCH & DESTROY

http://majorgeeks.com/download2471.html

Open Spybot Search & Destroy (Click Start, Programs, Spybot S&D (Advanced Mode). Click online, Search for updates, Download all available updates. Close all Browser windows, Click ''Check for Problems''. Anything that needs to be fixed it will show in red and have a green check in the box to the left. Click ''Fix Selected Problems'', Then restart your computer.Run hijack this and post a new log

Sorry it took so long to reply.  I finally got a chance to work on it and I'm pretty sure it's not fixed.  The main step that seems buggy from above was when ad-aware finished "deleting sections" it said that these (a list of files) could not be removed.  It told me to close all browsers prior to removal and/or remove them at reboot.  I clicked the "ok" button to remove them at reboot, but when I rebooted and ran Ad-Aware again, the same files came up.  Here's my logfile.

BTW, thanks for the reply, it did clean up a lot, but the ad-w-a-r-e popup is still coming (quite frequently).

I selected "show hidden folders and files" but I couldn't find Ebates_Moemoneymaker.  Thus, I did a search on ebates and deleted everthing I found.  Here is the new hijackthis log file.  Once again, thanks for the help, I'm not sure if the bug is gone.  I'll let you know if the popups reappear.

Hi wonwingangel, can you do me a favor

Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad) hit Enter
Copy the contents of the Quote box to notepad
In Notepad, Click File>>Save as
Name the file as fix.reg
Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Save this file on the desktop, we'll need this later, don't run it yet
This will help remove the 09 entry in your log related  to Spydeleter

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\{FB74C951-ACA1-4e33-A94C-A9261EB2CCB7}]

Just for safety, could you also download the VX2 Cleaner addon for Ad-Aware from HERE
Save it to desktop and double click on it to install

Ensure you installed Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05
Beforehand and checked for updates

Start Ad-Aware
