Please download LSP Fix

Then use these instructions to remove the bad DLL:

1. Run LSPFix.
2. Check 'I know what I'm doing'.
3. Select 'calsp.dll'.
4. Click the right-pointing arrow (moves it to the "remove" page).
5. Click 'Finished'.
6. Restart your computer in "Safe Mode" (F5 or F8 when starting Windows).
7. Delete the following file: c:\windows\system\calsp.dll
8. Restart your computer and bring it up in normal mode.

If you don't have the following programs Please download and run

AD-AWARE

Install the program and launch it.

First, in the bottom right-hand corner of the main window click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

Then, in the main window: Click Start and under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.

Then, deselect Search for negligible risk entries.

To start the scan, click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and then click Next)

Restart your computer.

SPYBOT SEARCH & DESTROY

Open Spybot Search & Destroy (Click Start, Programs, Spybot S&D (Advanced Mode). Click online, Search for updates, Download all available updates. Close all Browser windows, Click ''Check for Problems''. Anything that needs to be fixed it will show in red and have a green check in the box to the left. Click ''Fix Selected Problems'', Then restart your computer.Run hijack this and post a new log

Ok i dont know if this is has to do with the same problem, but I installed that program but here i am at add remove programs, going on 5 min waiting for it to show me the list of programs. Any ideas? I also went and downloaded ad-aware  and spybot. Everytime i run ad-aware it eventually locks up after finding files and such that need attention and goes non-responsive.

Just an update on situation, still am not able to open add/remove programs, and i am also not able to restart computer. I now have to manually hold the power button down on computer to shut down and then restart. Problem seems to be getting worse. At the moment i am in safe mode, couldnt find the .dll file to delete. I am running ad-aware in safe mode, because it locked up everytime in normal mode. It is finding a lot of 'New Critical Objects' in the c:\system volume information\_restore folder, some 35k and counting. Is this the right direction? Anything else I could do that would help? BTW its my desktop that is having the problem and i am writing now from my laptop. Thanks for the help.

A lot of those files are in your System Restore folder that Ad-Aware can't touch
You will have to disable SystemRestore to rid you of those files

Let's try this chad
While in safe mode
Go to START>>>RUN>>>type in services.msc and hit Enter
In the next window, look on the right hand side for this service
name---- Wintools for IE service

Double click on it--- STOP the service--
In the drop down menu, change the startup type to Disabled

Set Windows to Show Hidden Files and Folders

Access your Add/Remove Programs and Remove if found any of these in this order, don't restart your computer if prompted

WebSearch Toolbar
WebSearch Tools
Search Assistant
Win-Tools Easy Installer

Find and delete these files or folders if they exist
C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools <--this folder

Do another Scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries
and then FIX CHECKED when ALL other windows are closed

Your using an old version of hijackthis

Would you please download this version fo Hijackthis---Important---Create a permanent folder for hijackthis
EG---- Open MyDocuments----Right click an empty spot and select NEW---Folder----Name the new folder HJT
OR create a folder as C:\HJT---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too, also, backups will be stored there.
download from
HERE or HERE

Do a SCAN----Scan will change to SAVE LOG----copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log
here... Don't try and fix anything yet----It is all important

Your 017 entries tells me your domain is
Brigham Young University
Does that look right too you

What kind of popups are you getting, let's ensure these 2 services are shut down....

Go to START>>>RUN>>>type in services.msc and hit Enter
In the next window, look on the right hand side for this service
name---- Messenger and Alerter

Double click on them--- STOP the service--
In the drop down menu, change the startup type to Disabled

I don't see much else too bad
I know you have AV software installed on your computer, but could you
Temporarily disable Norton's Auto protect
and run an Online virus scan at RAV'S
http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/
Click on the To continue without subscribing click here
Set it to Autoclean
If anything is Uncleanable make a report and post it back here

You can have hijackthis fix this entry
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)

Post back with a fresh hijackthis log and the RAV report, thanks...

I went in and stopped the services and changed the startup type to disabled. I disabled nortons to perform the scan (which its still performing). While I have been doing all this I have coppied a few of the url's of the popups:
1. http://ads2.revenue.net/r?site_id=13442&pplacement_id=6&creative_id=206491
2. http://www.888.com/default.htm?lang=en&SR=668624
3. http://z1.adserver.com/w/cp.x;rid=52;tid=2;ev=1;dt=3;ac=29;c=48
4. http://www.pcsecurityshield.com/webApp/90014fs3.asp

I will post a new hijack when rav report is done. Thanks again for the help.

Did Rav find anything?

Can you do me a favor and Uninstall Ad-Aware and the VX2 cleaner from Add/Remove Programs

Next would you Disable System Restore
http://vil.nai.com/vil/SystemHelpDocs/DisableSysRestore.htm

After you have done that
Download and
InstallAd-Aware SE Personal 1.05 from the link I supplied

After Installation----Check for updates
Again redownload the VX2 cleaner
Run the VX2 add-on
RESTART into safe mode and run Ad-Aware again

RESTART back into Normal mode and post back a fresh log and let me know if your still having problems
