Hmmm, let's try a little cleanup
You may want to print this out or save this to a notepad file on desktop for easy access

I want you to try a few things, some may have no effect, but at least we tried

Download and install this cleanup tool
CleanUp!
Run this later

Download and Install the free version of Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05
Ensure you have this version or later
If not, uninstall yours and install this version
After installation-CHECK FOR UPDATES
Run this later

Disconnect from the Internet

Go to START>>>RUN>>type in cmd and hit enter
In the command box type ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter
Notice the space between "g /"
Exit out of there

Access your Internet options via Control Panel
Under the Advanced Tab>>>Restore Defaults
Under the Content Tab>>>Clear SSL Slate

Open Hijackthis>>>Config>>>Misc Tools>>>Delete file on Reboot
In the File Name field
Copy and paste from Notepad you saved earlier or manually type the bolded entry

C:\WINNT\System32\bwzryi.exe
And then click OPEN>>>This should tell you the file will be deleted on Reboot
Don't Restart yet

Do another Scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries
and then FIX CHECKED when ALL other windows are closed

O2 - BHO: MxTargetObj Class - {0000607D-D204-42C7-8E46-216055BF9918} - C:\WINNT\mxTarget.dll (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [jdrljxlsmzt] C:\WINNT\System32\bwzryi.exe

After you have fix checked and closed hijackthis

Open up Cleanup!
You can click on the Options button, but for now leave the Default settings(Standard Cleanup)
Click Ok and then click the Cleanup button
Let it finish the scanning and then RESTART your computer when prompted

After RESTART open Ad-Aware---ensure you updated before hand
Do a Full system scan----Remove All Critical objects by right clicking and Select all
RESTART your computer to finish the cleaning process

Post back with a fresh hijackthis afterwards
Also open Hijackthis>>>Config>>Misc Tools>>Open Hosts File Manager
Click the "Open in Notepad" button
Copy and paste the Whole contents of Notepad back here

I occured one error: when checking the Ad-Aware SE for updates there was an Error and it couldn't scan for them. I didn't know what to do so I carried on without updating. I had uninstalled my old one and reinstalled the new one for which you provided a link to.

I take it you got all those steps accomplished, your hosts file looks ok
Don't worry about losing the old version of Ad-Aware, the newer version will be more up to date
You can try and manually update the latest definitions
from Lavasoft's website
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Save the zip file to your desktop and unzip it to your Ad-Aware Se folder
By default it should be located in this location
C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal

When did this problem start?

I noticed in your first log you have missing file entries with the Google Toolbar
You may want to access your add/remove programs and uninstall it for now, you can reinstall it at a later time>>>RESTART your computer
If your using it for it's pop up blocking abilities, Windows XP SP2 has a built in blocker
In IE>>>Click on TOOLS>>Popup blocker
Could you set it to low for troubleshooting purposes
You can reset to Medium or higher later

If you update ad-aware manually can you run another scan please
restart if any criticals are removed

Service Pack 2 also has an updated firewall
Just for troubleshooting purposes can you disable it and see if you can access those sites or update ad-aware thru the program itself

Have you checked for any program updates since installing Service Pack2, including AV Program Updates?
Does your version of Nortons have a Firewall?

You may want to, just to be on the safe side, try an online virus scan at Housecall's>>Set to Autoclean
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
Can you access housecall's?
and/or
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm
Can you access this website?

Can you access this site now
Click on this link
http://www.wsu.edu/

Could you also try all the suggestions that Microsoft recommends when not being able to access Secure sites
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=813444

The problem started about 2-3 months ago with a horrific amount of popups that the SP2 popup blocker wasn't catching. And the wsu.edu website was (for sure) going on two months (I've been in the online course).

I actually hate Google Toolbar. I don't remember even installing it and I can't remove the last few components in the Add/Remove Programs. That Control Panel hates me (haha).

I set the SP2's Popup Blocker level to low.

Norton doesn't have a firewall that I'm aware of. I use my system firewall. My Norton has Auto-Protect, Email Scanning, Script Blocking and of course, Virus Scanning. But I'm sort of suspicious of this "Norton AntiVirus" software actually doing its job. Once or twice I've gotten a Norton popup saying "You have a virus: Trojan whatever" and then when I scan for viruses it doesn't pick it up.

Regardless I set Norton to scan every morning at 2am. I have Windows install Automatic Updates at 3am but I think I recently changed it to 1am everyday. I just checked for Updates and there are none available to me at this ime from Microsoft Windows Update.

I manually updated Ad-Aware SE and then checked for updates (firewall ON) and it said that none were available. Last time I ran it (after I reinstalled) I had 60 Negligable object, I left them alone since you only told me to delete Critical Objects but what exactly are the Negligable Objects and why did Ad-Aware mention them?

(At this point I could not access www.wsu.edu)

I then turned my Firewall OFF and searched for Ad-Aware Updates (none - since I'd already got them I guess). And then I tried the www.wsu.edu site and I still couldn't access it. (I have turned my Firewall back ON)

Ad-Aware found 53 more Critical Files (there were 107 once I got the SE Personal version). I could access Housecall and I ran it. It wanted to install an ActiveX component so I let it since it needed it to perform the scan. It found malware: TROJ_IMISERV.C TROJ_AGENT-1 (I guess it was that Trojan that Norton never found!)

I rebooted and ran the rest of Housecall's scan. It found 4 files: TROJ_IMISERV.C   TROJ_AGENT.FM   TROJ_IMISERV.C   TROJ_AGENT.EG .  I can access Panda ActiveScan but didn't scan with it. Should I?

Is the problem that wsu.edu is a secure site? I still cannot view it.

I then used the Troubleshooting on Microsoft all the way up to (but not including) the System Restore. Because I pointed my system restore point after I got rid of those pop-ups. I didn't even consider that I couldn't access the www.wsu.edu site.

I rebooted and tried to access www.wsu.edu

We can't find "www.wsu.edu"

You can try again by typing the URL in the address bar above.
Or, search the Web:

Go to MSN Search to see complete results for "www.wsu.edu".

------------------------------------------------------------
Did you intend to go to one of these similar Web addresses?
www.wsu.edu

(I clicked that)

Are you comfortable editing the registry
Here is what Trend Micro recommends
http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=TROJ_IMISERV.C

They also have a link to a System Clean utility
http://www.trendmicro.com/download/dcs.asp

Could you also search for these files on your computer
# sysinfo.dat
# systb.dl
# winobject.dll
# wupdt.exe
# winserv.exe
# kw.dat
# unall.exe

Let me know if you can find them
There is also a link to Process Explorer on Trend Micros page
Once installed
You can open it and click File>>Save as
Copy and paste the log file back here, let's see if there's a malicious process running

sysinfo.dat (not found)
systb.dll (found in my Spybot Search & Destroy)
winobject.dll (not found)
wupdt.exe (found in my Spybot Search & Destroy)

I've deleted the wupdt.exe from the registry already. I know because I found it and searched what it was on Google, found a reliable source (believe it was Microsoft) that said it wasn't necessary (and actually malware) and therefore deleted it. But oddly it's been located again. Should I uninstall and delete Spybot Search & Destroy?

The teacher of my course said that on the school computers when that happened they "Detect Network Settings". So I went into Tools > Internet Options > Connections > and checked off Automatically Detect Settings. That didn't work.

Let's try a couple other things

I don't see this in your log, and it shouldn't effect Mozilla, this leads me to believe that it may be on your end

Could you visit Subratam's site
Download and save to desktop  VX2.BetterInternet Finder XP/2k
but please download the version below labelled
 (ii) Version Msg126

Open VX2 finder
"Click to Find VX2.Betterinternet"
Make a log and post it here

Could you also
Download and save to desktop WinsockXP fix

Use the Reg-g backup first to backup your settings to a folder, you can use the default folder, you may get errors when trying this so it may be a good idea to also make a system Restore point
Start>>All Programs>>>Accessories>>System Tools>>>System Restore

In Winsock fix
Click the FIX button and Restart your computer

Are you on a Network--with other computers?
Did the problems start after you installed SP2?

If you open Network Connections---Right click your connection
Click the Properties tab---Highlight Internet Protocol---Click Properties
Are you set Obtain IP address Automatically and Obtain DNS server Address Automatically checked or do you have to manually set yours up?
