PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: WinXP Professional
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model: NEC NR-7900A & HD-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8160B
Error Messages:  E:\ is not accessible.  Incorrect Function

Whenever I put in a CD or DVD into the drives and try to access the them, I get the error message listed above.  If I leave the CD/DVD in the drives and restart the computer, then it works, but once I remove the CD/DVD from the drives and reinsert, I get the error message again.

This started a while back, but I accepted the work around of just restarting the computer while the CD/DVDs were in the drive.  But, now I would like to try and get it fixed.  Any help would be appreciated.

When did this start? "A while back" doesn't help much. What did you install that made this to start happening?

It has been around 6 months ago.  I honestly don't remember what I could have installed to cause this.  I have been doing some research on Microsoft sight and online and the only thing that I have found that is related to what I have is Roxio Easy CD Creator.  I already uninstalled it but it still comes up with that error.  What is quirky is that when you start the computer with the CD already in the drive it reads it just fine.  But if you insert the CD after the computer is already on, then it comes up with the error message.
Again, thank you for your help

What is (or are) the burning program ( or programs) that you have installed?
