Fourm Manager:

Have discovered quite by surprise/accident that hitting the "Enter" key while typing in the "Subject" field, appears to be the equivalent of clicking on the "Post New Topic" button. Luckily I was sufficiently done, but consider this "ungood" and would suggest that this should not cause the item to be submitted.

Thanks,,

Hi,

This is the default behaviour of Internet Explorer using forms, there is nothing that can be done about it.

Simply don't hit <ENTER> until you're done filling out the form.

Hummm.
Find that response INconsistent with the reality of the TEXT portion of a post which I'd guess uses the same concept.
If Enter the the message text doesn't submit the item, then Enter in the Subject area shouldn't either.
I'd agree that Enter in the the subject may seem a poor idea, but it would be better ignored than causing the UNexpected.

Hi,

It appears that when the focus is on an <input> tag with the type "text"
E.G.    <input type="text">
the submit button becomes selected and hitting <ENTER> triggers it.

The text portion is using a <textarea> tag which doesn't have this effect.

I have observed this on many sites using ASP, PHP, HTML using IE and I am not aware of a way to change this behavior.
