PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: Windows Xp
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model: Packard Bell
Error Messages:

Hi,
I recently attracted a bugger of a virus on my computer and after countless attempts of using virus software to clean and restore the system i'm still having to put up with a slower computer and unable to use my CD Drive as well as other things.

What I want to do is back up a few files and then use system restore using the recovery cd to get rid of everything and start from scratch as it is really annoying to put up with my computer in its current state.

Since this virus started I cannot use my internal cd drive as well as my external cd drive and If I put a CD either data or audio and it doesnt register that there is a CD in the drive.

Would anyone have a slight idea why this is like this? Can this be fixed so I can back up my files before the System Restore?

And if I do the system restore would my CD drives be back to normal after the restart?

Or would you have any other suggestions that I might be able to do?

Any help with this topic will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,

Will.

Try with any of the online scanners (the 5 at the bottom) on this FAQ if you can put a finger on the virus and remove it.

What version of AV are you using, if any?

I was using Norton when I recieved the Virus and since then I downloaded Bullguard AV,Adware, Spybot & Trojan Hunter, they all seem to find and delete the virus's in the computer, but my computer is still slow, cd drives not working and I re-run the scanners and it still picks up the virus's.

I checked the properties for the cd drives and it says that they are working fine.
