im using my on screen keybaord at the mo but wen i press certian things on my key obard it comes up with other things how do i change this???

Keyboard settings in control panel. Change it to use the UK locale (country settings) yet the American (US) keyboard layout.

You say as if it's the most normal thing in the world and I should've known about it. Take a look around here and see how many people are using Windows 98 - Windows 2000.

Anyway, I should've asked for your keyboard as well. Is it a brand version (Logitech, Microsoft, Compaq etc.)? Is it a normal PS2 version, or is it a USB? Did you load up your drivers for the keyboard?

Are you using Service Pack 1 or 2 for XP?

ok iots pulgs into ps2
its a packard bell keyboard
im donwloading some stuff rom that link that you sent as i type
yeh i loaded the drivers
and im using sp1 becuase i cant load the windows update properly becuase of my sercurity settings even though i have configered them and now nothing should be wrong

Did the updated keyboard file for your language help? If not, can you try a different keyboard? Have you made sure your PS2 connector is on in the BIOS? (Although it can be rather difficult to get into the BIOS when the keyboard is disabled... try a CMOS reset for that).
