PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: WIN98

Thanks for reading.  Somehow this mypoiskovik bug got on my computer, hijacked my homepage, and added unwanted favorites.

Here's what I've done:

Downloaded most recent Ad-Aware. It detected the bugs, I deleted, but they came back.

Downloaded most recent Spybot S&D. I deleted bugs, they came back.

Downloaded Hijack This. I deleted all the obvious bugs, they came back.

Downloaded CW Shredder. It restored 5 registry settings in IE, but the bug came back.

This freaking thing will not go away. I've looked all over the internet for a day now, and can't seem to fix it on my own. So I'm turning to you guys, please help!

A few more things. Whenever I shut down the computer, I am getting a message that says "Win Min" is not responding, so I end task and shut down. When I go to INternet Properties to change my home page, the field isn't grayed out, but whenever I change the computer freezes up and I have to ctrl-alt-del and close the properties window. I also tried to search for any .hta files, but I couldn't find an option to search for a file extension, so that didn't do much help. Other than all that, my computer is running a little slower than normal.

This is my hijack this log. I looked over some of the resources on this site, and deleted what I was sure of, but I didn't want to over do it. Everything I have deleted has ended up coming back. I deleted everything that included the myposevik address, but it came back. Please take a look and tell me what you think. Thanks so much...

Hi robdawg,
You may want to go to go to this link I've provided and use Housecall and scan your computer for viruses.
http://housecall60.trendmicro.com/en/start_corp.asp?id=scan

I've noticed in your logfile you are using both Norton System Works AND AVG Anti-virus.
It is not recommended that you use 2 anti-viruses on the same computer it will cause conflicts. Choose one or the other.
After using Housecall post a new logfile please

Thanks for the response. I just downloaded AVG today, because I thought it might help with this bug and do something Norton isn't.  Thanks for the tip.  I'll uninstall one of them after I get all this **** figured out.

I started doing the scan and it looks like it's going to take awhile.  I will start again tomorrow afternoon and post a new log file.  Thanks again for the help.

I think it worked.  Cross my fingers.  Here's what I did.  I went to housecall as you suggested and it discovered 14 infected files, all identified as trojans.  I deleted them for the housecall interface, all but one--which I couldn't delete because it said the file was in use.  This particular trojan file was buygqoq.exe.  One of the trojan files, muwstgw.exe, was in the original hijack this log and is gone now.  I rebooted, everything is running faster, and my Internet Properties doesn't freeze up anymore.  Now I just need to do a search for this one file I couldn't delete and knock it out, too.  Thanks so much for your help.  This has been a nightmare.  I just hope it doesn't come back like it has been.  Here's the log, let me know if you see anything fishy.
