PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:XP SP2
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:Maxtor 80GB HDD
Error Messages:None

Added additional hard drive. Recognized ok in BIOS as Primary Slave and shown in Device Manager as working ok, but when I open 'My Computer' the new Hard Drive isn't shown with a corresponding letter against it, therefore cannot save anything to it.
Have my original Hard Drive partitioned as C & D Drive, could this have anything to do with it?
Please Help
Thanks

Hi Jeffpoc

I don't believe having your master drive partitioned as C&D would cause your slave drive not to show in My Computer.
You may need to flash the bios. Your bios and chipset may not support the new hard drive you installed.

Sorry, but what is, and how do you flash the BIOS.

Hello again jeffpoc,
Flashing the BIOS (upgrading) information :

Note: While this upgrade is taking place, it must not be interrupted for any reason. This must be done from a clean DOS or Windows 9x/ME bootable system diskette (floppy).
 During startup, most PC

Errr.... no, no need to flash the BIOS. All you need to do is partition and format the new harddrive.

Use Maxblast 3 for Windows for that to setup the harddrive, it will partition & format it.

Yeah Thanks, didn't need maxblast in the end, just found out about disk management in XP and used that to format and assign letter to new drive. All now working.
Thanks
