PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:Windows XP SP! (WinNT 5.01.2600)
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

I need help!

I have been hijacked and various other problems.

1.  Internet explorer is starting on the about:blank homepage and I cannot get rid of it.
2.  The active desktop was taken over with a black screen with graphics in the middle with a security warning telling me I have spyware and it has a link to a website selling software. No kidding.  I have removed it by shutting off the active desktop but it is still there.
3.  As soon as this garbage showed up on my active desktop I could not open MY Computer, control panel or any folders without receiving a Windows error telling me

Windows explorer has encountered a problem and will shutdown.

4.  When I restarted the first thing that comes up is Windows Installer trying to install something?  It goes through my product drivers but I cancel it before it finishes whatever it is doing.  Then
it takes forever to load windows and I once again get the explorer error and I cannot open My computer, control panel and folders.

I ran Ad-aware and I was able to open My computer, control panel and folders after it was complete, but if I restart it goes back to the explorer error.
I ran Norton and it hasn't found anything.  This all happened at once also.

Here is my HJT log

Woah theaxxxe5  Shocked having a bit of trouble huh?  Ok I think you should run some tools, it will help the moderators with your HJT logfile.

Download / Install / Update / and Run:

SpyBot

And go here and scan your computer using
Housecall

After running those please post a fresh HJT logfile in here.

Ok Geekgirl,

I downloaded and scanned with Spybot and did a virus scan with Housecall.

I could not delete the following viruses because they were being used by another program:

JAVA BYTEVER.A
TROJ 167.A

When I restart the computer I get the following message:

Error loading C:Program Files\Wild Tangent\Apps\CDA\cdaengine0400.dll
The specified module could not be found.

I am still receiving the error when opening folders,My Computer and Control Panel:

Windows Explorer has encountered an error and must close.  Only works in safe mode.

Here is the latest HJT log

Hi
Make sure you have  run Adaware and CWshreader(check for updates) and  as these will do a preliminary clean first. Some files below may not be present after running the above programs.

Then.....
Turn off your System Restore. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;%5BLN%5D;310405] See Here.Reinstate it and create an new restore point when your log is cleaned.Close your browser window and run hjt in safe mode... http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406?OpenDocument&src=sec_doc_nam] How To Run Safemode  and have "Hijack This" fix the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and selecting "fix checked".
Folders that have been  highlighted in RED will need to be uninstalled. .Check first as some folders maybe uninstalled via the Add/Remove program. Files highlighted in BLACK will need to be removed from your hard drive.
