My DVD drive went crazy over the weekend it won't play any audio cd's or DVD's. I thought it might be shot so i went to best buy i bought a new one. I install the new drive reboot the pc and the computer does not recognize my new drive or my DVD writer. So I unplug the new DVD drive reinstall the old DVD drive and reboot and both drives appear. I know a little about computers but this doesnt make any sense.

Without knowing the drives you have in there (brands & models) plus your operating system, we're only at a guessing stage. Glad you got it fixed though. All that without our help. Smiley

Next time you hit this snag, check your IDE cables first though. It may well be that a connector had loosened. You reconnecting everything made sure it worked again. As for the other drive not showing up, you may have forgotten to set the Master/Slave jumper on the back correctly.
