PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: Windows XP Home SP2 Japanese
Problem Application Name & Version: New Intel bios P18
Problem Hardware Make & Model: Intel 423 socket D850GB (old bios: American Megatrends GB85010A.15A.0028.P09.0103091412)
Error Messages: Severe.  This program is unable to continue. The update is invalid for your system.

I have a Gateway 1.4 GHZ and would like to upgrade to 2.8GHZ with the Powerleap PL-P4/N Socket 423 to Socket 478 Upgrade Adapter.  Poweleap tech stated I would need to upgrade my bios to P18, so I downloaded the Intel Express Bios Utility.  Program would not run, and stated bios was invalid.  However, this Poweleap upgrade example is on-line at "Performance Injection: Socket 423 with 2.8 GHz" (see http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/20040830/).  The only bios upgrade for D850GB would appear to be P18 (that is the only upgrade listed by Intel).  Any suggestions? Many thanks in advance.
