Operating System Version: win 98se
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages: none thus far

My brother's computer (the one i primarily use) has that feature where you have to put in a user name and password to log yourself in. My brother uses one and I use one so that we can have our own settings.

So farI have had to change my user name 6 or 7 times b/c they become corrupt for some reason.

When I sign in here is what happens:

- the background changes brom black to that ugly green (and any wallpaper i have is gone)

- the "screen area" changes to 800x600 instead of 1024x768.

- there are extra icons i.e. Setup MSN Internet Access (I don't know where it came from since I have never used MSN access).

- the icons look funny (discoloured, pixelated, larger even after i change the settings back to 1024x768)

- I can access MSN messenger no problem however when I go to use internet explorer that setup thing kicks in. I never complete it b/c it can never detect my modem even though theres one there.

- I cannot seem to re-apply any wallpapers.

My brother has had the same user name the entire time we have had this computer & there have never been problems. Same with the default user (when you press cancel).

I am not sure if this can be considered a major prob or not of if i even put this post in the right place but this is such a pain in the butt and i would like any problems with this computer fixed...

If you can help it would be greatly appreciated! Grin

Thanks much,

My only wish is to understand what's going on!
