PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:

In spite of my best efforts at keeping all my virus software & Windows critical updates up to date, I got hit a few days ago with the trojan m00.exe.
Norton 2003, Grisoft AVG and an online scan at Trend Micro's site found nothing related.  I'm also running up to date versions of AdAware & SpyBot.  Once again, they couldn't find/fix the problems.
I stumbled across this forum searching for answers and sure hope you folks can help me beat it.
Looking forward to any and all help.  Thanks.

Mike

Hi.. rs170a .. Please Delete the version of HJT that you have and Download the Newer version 1.98.2
Download Hijackthis
---Important---Create a permanent folder
EG---- Open MyDocuments----Right click an empty spot and select NEW---Folder----Name the new folder HJT ---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too, also, backups will be stored there.
Download from here

**(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders. This is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)**

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

uhtbmpq.exe
nkyyhom.exe

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

Done.  My homepage is now what it should be :-)
One question though.  You said empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them).  I've emptied F:\Documents and Settings\Mike\Local Settings\Temp as it and F:\WINDOWS\Temp are the only ones I'm aware of.  BTW, F:\WINDOWS\Temp has several files named Perflib_Perfdata_***.dat.  Can I safely delete these?

Mike

Your logfile is clean rs170a ... Grin

These are optional, but recommended for removal,Resource hogs and not needed on startup, but does not disable the program:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "F:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = F:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE
