**(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders. This is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)**

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

CMESys.exe
Gator.exe
GMT.exe
kalvugh32.exe
GoogleDesktop.exe

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_05\bin\jusched.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RealTray] C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\RealPlay.exe SYSTEMBOOTHIDEPLAYER
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mmtask] c:\Program Files\MusicMatch\MusicMatch Jukebox\mmtask.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdateManager] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic\Update Manager\sgtray.exe" /r
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CMESys] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\CMEII\CMESys.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [kalvsys] C:\windows\system32\kalvugh32.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Google Desktop Search] "C:\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search\GoogleDesktop.exe" /startup
O4 - Startup: PowerReg SchedulerV2.exe

O4 - Global Startup: Exif Launcher.lnk = ?
O4 - Global Startup: Gator eWallet.lnk = C:\Program Files\Gator.com\Gator\Gator.exe
O4 - Global Startup: GStartup.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\GMT\GMT.exe
O9 - Extra button: MUSICMATCH MX Web Player - {d81ca86b-ef63-42af-bee3-4502d9a03c2d} - http://wwws.musicmatch.com/mmz/openWebRadio.html (file missing)
O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\program files\google\google desktop search\googledesktopnetwork1.dll
O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\program files\google\google desktop search\googledesktopnetwork1.dll
O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\program files\google\google desktop search\googledesktopnetwork1.dll
O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\program files\google\google desktop search\googledesktopnetwork1.dll

The next are optional, but recommended for removal,Resource hogs and not needed on startup, but does not disable the program:

Go to Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs and remove the
 following if they are there:

CMEII
CMESys
Gator
GMT
Google Desktop Search

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

C:\Program Files\Common Files\CMEII\CMESys.exe
C:\Program Files\Gator.com\Gator\Gator.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\GMT\GMT.exe
C:\windows\system32\kalvugh32.exe
C:\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search\GoogleDesktop.exe

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and Reboot.

In Xp, here are some locations of Temp files

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Turn on System restore, before opening your browser goto TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS and make sure your Homepage is correct,if not ,type the URL you would like in the HomePage box.

Now re-run HJT and post a new logfile back here.

Run An Online Virus Scan At
Trend Micro
Remove anything it finds and write down any files it says are uncleanable
(Write down the name and path)

then run hijack this again and post a new log as well as let us know what Trend Micro found

04 - HKLM\..\Run: [kalvsys] C:\windows\system32\kalvugh32.exe

popped up again, as you can see from this log:

3. I checked this file and removed it but it showed up again when  I re-ran HJT kalvugh32 showed up again.

4.  I ran then AdAware and removed about 76 Elitum EliteBar files which I removed.

5. I then ran SpyBot 1.3 and got the following results:

This was a really tough one to fix.  The registry fix at the following link ended up getting it done for me. No more Elite Toolbar or Miracle Search hijjack!!!

Thanks for the help.
