Operating System Version: Windows XP
Problem Application Name & Version: IE 6

Got hit by mypoiskovik once again.  Think I cleaned it all up.  Would someone be willing to check out my HJT Log below and let me know if there is any further cleaning needed?  Any insight would be appreciated!

Hi zevms...

Could you Set Windows to show Hidden files and folders
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

The next are optional, but recommended for removal,Resource hogs and not needed on startup, but does not disable the program:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and Reboot.

In Xp, here are some locations of Temp files

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Turn on System restore,before opening your browser goto START>CONTROL PANEL>INTERNET OPTIONSand make sure your Homepage is correct,if not ,type the URL you would like in the HomePage box.

Ok...now goto Windows Updates and Download ALL the Critical Updates upto and including SP1...SP2 being your choice...Grin

Now re-run HJT and post a new logfile back here.

Okay, cactus, I'm going to do all of that...but it'll have to wait until later today when I get home.  One question, though...you indicate that I should let HJT fix my trusted zones.  I purposely put those sites into the "trusted zones" area (I have configured IE to prompt me to allow or block cookies...these are sites I know and trust).  Will fixing those items remove these sites from that zone?

If you put those sites in your trusted zone then don't fix them

Okay...here is the new HJT Log.  I did everything you told me to except fix the trusted zones and the entries dealing with "Popcap Loader"/"Zone" as these are games I downloaded from MSN games (which, I assume can be trusted, yes?).  Also, you told me to download SP1 and SP2...I have done this in the past.  Each time I have done it, the downloads have ended up making my computer run poorly.  What gives?  Let me know how the HJT Log looks.  Thanks for the help.
