PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:Windows 98
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

Hi there,
I see that this issue has been addressed several times by other people, but I could really use some help getting rid of the dialeradmin virus, and a few others that neither norton nor ad-aware 6 can remove from my computer.  They are driving me nuts, could someone please help? I would try to fix this by looking at other threads with the same problem, but I thought that might not be the best idea since everyone's computer is configured slightly differently(right?)  If anyone could give me a hand I would be incredibly greatful.

Hi gengenja
Lets clean your pc up alittle first.

Scan your pc with one of these free online scanners Housecall
Panda ActiveScan

If you haven't done so yet please
Download / Install / Update / and Run:

SpyBot S&D 1.3
And:
Adaware SE
You are using an old version of HJT. Please Download the newer version of HiJackThis 1.99 and post a new logfile.

(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders. A good place to make a folder would be in My Documents,
as this is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)

Thanks so much for helping me out with this. I am trying to download spybot right now, but it is slow going as I have dial-up, also I downloaded the newer version of highjack this but for some reason my computer is trying to use windows media player to open it and well, that doesn't really work now does it?
Any suggestions?

That same thing happened to me once. Just open it with Notepad and copy and paste it in this thread.

Okay, I don't know how to do it, sorry I am pretty computer challenged.  When I download the new version I save it in my documents with the all files extension, I have tried the zip extension too, but neither of them will work!  It automatically tries to open it with media player, no choice given as to what I want to use.  Sorry I wish I was better acquianted with my machine, but sadly I am not.  Could you maybe walk me through the process I need to follow?

I apologize I misread your last reply. I didnt realize you couldnt even open it.
Delete the version you have, Use this link to d/l HJT, it should then open for you with Winzip.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=3155&file=11&evp=3304750663b552982a8baee6434cfc13

Do you have Winzip 9.0 ?

Hi
Lets see how  we go with what you got....

Make sure you have already run Adaware, Spybot S & D(check for updates) and  as these will do a preliminary clean first. Some files below may not be present after running the above programs.

Then.....
Turn off your System Restore. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;%5BLN%5D;310405] See Here.Reinstate it and create an new restore point when your log is cleaned.Close your browser window and run hjt in safe mode... http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406?OpenDocument&src=sec_doc_nam] How To Run Safemode  and have "Hijack This" fix the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and selecting "fix checked".
Folders that have been  highlighted in RED will need to be uninstalled. .Check first as some folders maybe uninstalled via the Add/Remove program. Files highlighted in BLACK will need to be removed from your hard drive. Make sure to have your system set to show hidden files and folders..www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html] How To Show Files .Please post a new log when finished...

Okay, here are the two newest hijack this logs, the first is my safe mode version in which I tried to "fix" the about:blank things, but as can be seen in the second log it came right back!! Argh! I cannot get the new version of hijack this to open on my computer, even with the link supplied by geekgirl, and I am sorry that this is so short but if I type for too long, my computer freezes up, I have to reboot and I lose all of my work.

okay, I followed the steps left by cactus and here is the resulting hijackthis log. (some of the files, etc. were not present when I went to delete them, so maybe they were already taken care of?)

Hi gengenja...

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

istsvc.exe
RKYHV.EXE

Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

Hi...my computer is getting very slow....I've scanned it with ad-awere, spy sweeper, spy blaster and Spybot - Search & Destroy. I've norton antivirus and internet security 2005. I'm getting sometimes the purple/blue pages from dialeradmin.com. And one thing....I've a file called 127021.exe in my c:\ directory, and if I remove it, it will be back after the first reboot.
Can you look at this log for me, to look what's wrong.
