PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: ME
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model: ScanMagic 600 CU scanner
Error Messages: Please check the cable

Hi, hope this is in the correct forum.

I'm having trouble with my scanner...although I know my computer recognises my scanner through the USB port, and the software is installed.  It won't let me scan, saying: Scanner not connected, please check the cable.

The power is on, and I know it's recognised (as it recognised it as soon as I plugged it in).

Anyone able to give some advice?

Thank you.

Hi Lambretta125
Have you checked your cable? Wink
You may need to reinstall the drivers.
Go to Device Manager as see if there is any yellow ?

If it was the cable why did the computer recognise the scanner nd update it's drivers before I even installed the progs to run it?

Also try these,
Connect and turn on the scanner and reboot the PC.

Turn on the scanner first and then reboot the PC.

Reboot the PC.

Ya edited your first post...sorry, never saw the update.

I tried installing the whole lot three times.  I'm not sure how to install just the drivers.

I tried restarting my comp several times to.  But I shall try turning the scanner on, then off....and then restart.

How do I get to device manager again?  Smiley

You can use either of these methods

1. RIGHT click on the MY COMPUTER icon on the DESKTOP, select PROPERTIES from the pop-up down menu, then select the DEVICE MANAGER tab, OR...
2. Open CONTROL PANEL, double click on the SYSTEM icon, and select the DEVICE MANAGER tab

To reinstall drivers follow this:
Uninstall scanner drivers and software from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel

Unplug scanner from PC

Using Windows Explorer, delete any folders with the name Twain within the Windows folder (normally TWAIN_32 and TWAIN)

Restart into safe mode (by tapping F8 during boot)

Remove ANY/ALL USB devices and imaging devices from Device Manager (must be in safe mode!!)

Restart Windows

Plug in device and continue installation as normal

Let us know

Hi Geek girl.  I did what you suggested, and no joy, maybe I just have a dodgy cable, was hoping it wouldn't be that.  Will have to get a whole new scanner in this case.  Thanks so much for the help.
