I have a dell inspiron 1150 supported by XP Home Edition which stopped playing music a month ago.I checked the device manager which had no exclamation marks next to them and 7 devices have no drivers installed.I tried the troubleshoot which did not help and neither did the CD rom bought with the laptop;said it had no better drivers to download. How can I download these drivers or what is the remedy for these problem.Any help is much appreciated.

Depends on what you lost, but why not check on Dell Support?

All dell laptops should have a "service tag" on them somewhere. If you find the service tag and input it on the dell website it should give you a list of all the drivers you'll need for the machine. If you get no joy from there you can always ring them up and they'll give you a link to the drivers you need.

I checked my problem with the Dell support forum and the problem seems not to be a driver one.None of the devices needs a driver to run.
Apparently am a computer novice and I don`t have the knowledge of what to do next.Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Hi kim

Does your cdrom work at all? Can you place different disc in and it runs ok? How are you playing your music? eg. Windows Media Player? Do you have sound at all?

My CD rom is working fine and I have no other problem on it.Music is inaudible.I have tried playing a CD on Windows Media,Real player and Dell Media experience but none works at all.
Thank you very much.
