Update - I ran Housecall - it found trojpurityscn.o - non-cleanable - in C:\WINDOWS\DownloadedProgramfiles\conflict.1\media\Ticketsinstall.ocx
I hit delete via Housecall.
Still have the same problem.  Spyguard comes on each time an "attempted takeover" of my homepage occurs.  This happens at booting and periodically afterwards.

Set Windows to show Hidden files and folders
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

** ALL WINDOWS MUST BE CLOSED INCLUDING THIS ONE **

**(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders. This is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)**

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

SpyWareKiller.exe
grhadju.exe
449079.exe
angelex.exe

Turn off System Restore WinXP WinME. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {82A29F89-203C-0FBF-4A55-5AF07EC938C2} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\ulfppslh.dll

O23 - Service: Is*xEng - Unknown - C:\WINDOWS\System32\angelex.exe (file missing)

Go to Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs and remove the
 following if they are there:

Anonymizer
SpyWareKiller << Shareware "Spyware remover" of questionable quality and repute.
Is*xEng

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

C:\WINDOWS\System32\ulfppslh.dll
C:\Program Files\Anonymizer\sk\SpyWareKiller.exe
c:\windows\grhadju.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\angelex.exe

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and Reboot.

In Xp, here are some locations of Temp files

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Turn on System Restore

Before opening your browser goto START>CONTROL PANEL>INTERNET OPTIONSand make sure your Homepage is correct,if not ,type the URL you would like in the HomePage box.

Now re-run HJT and post a new logfile back here.

Hi Cactus, I followed your instructions as best as I could.  Only one of the ones you list to get rid of via Hijackthis was there.  Removed Anonymizer via control Panel.  Cannot find any of the files to delete, even in safe mode. Empited all temp folders and recycle bin - did not turn on system restore again yet though because Spyguard keeps telling me that my homepage is being taken over.  Here is a new Hijackthis log.  I won't do anything else until I hear back.  Thanks

Hello
Below is my new HTL. I am wondering how I keep having this problem (well 2x anyway)I have all kinds of spyware and Norton. Do you think the problem was the Wintv. I loaded the disc provided with the package but then went to the web-site to download the updates.  I know that we are still working on the problem because I see search4u in the HTL.  But also wanted to ask about prevention so I don't have to bother you nice folks again.
Thanks
Ang

Hello - thanks for your patience.

Finqicw.exe was not a running process.
Delete via Hijack this went fine.
mssearch4u was not in control panel add/remove
C:\WINDOWS\finqicw.exe could not be found in normal or safe mode.
temp files are deleted and below is a new HJT log.

I have noticed that 2 other users on the system get a message at log on "This information is already running"  Is this associated? or a separate issue?

Hi
I wish that were the case.  I just went on the internet to get this message and Spyguard warning came up that there was an attempted takeover of my homepage.
Secondly, where and I getting these trojans?  Can I re-install Wintv?  Should I avoid their site re updates?  Thanks

Hi Cactus
I re-installed Hauppauge Wintv.  Below is my new HJT log.  How can I prevent problems like the one I had in future.  Your expertise is much appreciated.  Thanks so much.

Hi
I receieved an e-mail notification that there was a response from Cactus about 5 hours after my last post re the HJT log.  But when I go to the site - the last post is mine. I opened it a couple of times to check.
Thanks and your input re how to avoid this posted problem in future would be much appreciated.
