When you boot does it see the floppy at all? Does the light flash on and off?

The floppy is recognized on boot. Didn't have a floppy in my system. Tried putting 2 different floppy drives in and both get the same message. Will not read any floppies either

Check to see if the driver is functioning.

Right Click-My Computer-Properties.
Click Device Manager tab

So you have re-installed the driver, yes?

Floppy drives are pretty inexpensive...$20.00CAD.
I would try installing a new Drive.
XP will load the Drivers...they are all generic so the driver is NOT the problem.
