PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:winXP SP!
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

Hey all,

Lately I often get a high ping in computergames which make the game run shabby. Everytime my ping is high wdfmanager and impreverse are runnin, dont know if this is unusual. Furthermore I have no spyware, no downloads and my ISP has no disruptions so I wonder what could cause this problem? I scan with ad-aware and hijackthis so I think its not spyware. If you need more information just ask.

Thanks loads,

Pretty tough call when your trying to determined where the bottleneck of a bad ping is with just using the ping command. I'd  download pingplotter http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html

Since I am not familar with the game your playing the issue could be your opponent, the connectiver server\serice for the game or many others. Just so you can follow how I describe this, the ping gives round trip where a traceroute (tracert) will give you a ping and the associated latency for each hop on route to your destination. Ping Plotter, will act like a traceroute, provide the name-reslotuion for each of the hops if applicable and run all the time( or when you specifiy) so you can test, while playing the game, with the game shut off etc.

With your results if you have bad ping\latency on the first hops then I'd say you might want to dig more into your computer but I suspect you'll find its something in the middle or end of the path to the resource you want... thus not your machine.

Adding to that, what are you using? Cable or ADSL, from which ISP and at what upload/download speed?
What kind of modem are you using? USB, Ethernet or WiFi? Are you networked, using a router, what's your firewall settings like? And of course, what game is it you're playing and on what kind of machine?
