Operating System Version: Windows Me (4.90.3000)
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

I have just installed a new DVD-ROM drive as my old one wasn't picking up any DVD formats. When I ran the "Add New Hardware" function from the Control Panel, it searched for new Plug and Play hardware and found this device: "System board extension for PnP BIOS"

when I tried to install this device the following message appeared:
"This device is already installed, but it has a problem. To view properties for the device, and to see the problem and the proposed solution, click Finish"

which I did, and the next screen displayed:
"This device is causing a resource conflict (Code 15.) To resolve the conclict, click Hardware Troubleshooter and follow the instructions in the wizard"

When I clicked this button, nothing happens, nothing at all.

Please could anyone explain what a Code 15 problem is, or how to fix it, or why Windows might not be performing this Troubleshooting function.

Is there anything I can do to resolve the problem with the PnP BIOS extension I posted above, so that I can get my DVD-ROM working?

Windows currently wont troubleshoot the problem - what might I do to get Windows to troubleshoot it?

There is a resource conflict (Code 15). Any suggestions of how I can resolve this resource conflict?
