PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: XP
Problem Application Name & Version: Half Life 2 (PC Game)
Problem Hardware Make & Model:40 G/B Hard drive
Error Messages:

Just bought today HALF LIFE 2. I keep getting the above error message?
Is there anyway around not having to install Conter Strike to stop getting this message?
(Apprently this error message can be resolved by installing Counter Strike)
1. I have not got enough hard drive space
2. There is nothing on my hard drive I want to uninstall then reinstall.

Well no. At first you have to install Counter Strike with Half Life 2, you can always remove CS through Steam when you have finally managed to install everything. But the error you're getting has a simpler solution: reboot your system, then start to reinstall HalfLife 2. I had the exact same error message, a reboot fixed things.
