Operating System Version: Windows XP Home
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model: Western Digital HD
Error Messages:

Hi all.  I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if anyone knows what I can do.  I have a Western Digital HD that I placed in a 3.5" enclosure and use as an external HD for backing up my laptop.  It connects through a USB 2.0 Cardbus.  Anyways, everything was working fine until someone in my family accidentally disconnected the power supply while the external HD was accessing.  Now, whenever I plug it into the USB, I get an error message that the USB device has malfunctioned and windows cannot access it.  All other USB devices work fine.  It seems to me that the HD is corrupted.  Can anyone tell me if it's possible to recover the data or have the HD fixed somewhere?  Can anyone recommend a service provider that recovers corrupted HD's?  I have some pretty important files on there that I would really prefer not to lose.
