PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: WinXP Home with SP2
Problem Application Name & Version: Hijackthis.exe
Problem Hardware Make & Model: Hijackthis 1.98.x
Error Messages: Hijackthis.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

IE says it's version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158

Did a search, couldn't find anything on this.  The pc I'm having these problems on is not my own.  I have installed an run AdAware as well as another spyware remover on this pc.  I've also upgraded NAV to 2005 and run that.  Now when I turn on the pc I get a Microsoft error report that says:

localFilemove MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Error signature:

AppName: hmlyoc.exe  AppVer: 1.0.0.1  ModName: hmlyoc.exe  ModVer: 1.0.0.1  Offset: 00007920

I'm mentioning that becase I don't know if it has anything to do with Hijackthis not working.

When I scan with HJT it gets to line 023 Windows NT Services and a Microsoft Error Report window opens saying Hijackthis.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Error signature:

AppName: hijackthis.exe  AppVer: 1.99.0.0  ModName: ntdll.dll  ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180  Offset: 0000316c

I've tried with and without a log, but get the same error message.  I removed many, many spybots, malware, and 4 threats and/or viruses on this pc but still have crashing problems as well as those 2 errors.

Please let me know if there is any other info you need from that pc to diagnose the problems.

Thanks

Have you tried running it in SAFE MODE?
