PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:Windows ME
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:Tiny PC computer
Error Messages:No serial link

I'm very new at this so please bear with me. I was installing a Doring Kindersley CD rom on the PC and it seemed to take ages without looking as if it was working. Then the screen froze and I tried to shut it down. This wouldn't work so I pressed the restart button without success. As a last resort I turned off the computer at the mains. When I switched it on again, the monitor powered up with a message to say there was no serial link (or something like that)and then went blank. We have left the computer on in the hope that it might be ok later but I really don't know what to do. I would not be allowed to open up the hard drive, nor would I feel confident to do so and fear making the problem worse. Please help if you can- I'd be so-o-o grateful. Thanks

Chris

Opening up the harddrive wouldn't fix things, no. Then again, you'd need some sturdy Dremel powertools to be able to open that one up. Opening up the case though, may void your warranty. I assume you meant that. Smiley

If you are under warranty, call Tiny Computers. Explain to them what you did and what the error message says. As far as I can see, it may be something with a network card, but not sure about that.

Unfortunately it's not under warranty- it's 4 years old. Thanks for suggestion though
