Running Windows XP, usually run ad-aware every time I boot.  My roomate was using my computer last weekend and he did something, what I dont know.  My entire desktop is an ad that looks like an error screen about spyware if I click anywhere I get directed to topantispyware.com, my recycle bin will not empty no matter how many times I try, and I can not clear objects after running ad-aware, it just freezez (I am up to 708 Objects!)

Here is my hijack this log:

WOW!! Shocked
Nice friends.. Wink
You might want to think of Password Protecting your Login when your gone.. Grin

Set Windows to show Hidden files and folders
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

**(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders. This is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)**

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

wuauclt.exe <<< STOP THIS PROCESS
d3qb.exe
crmq.exe
bargains.exe
WebRebates0.exe
AdStatServ.exe
AdStatKeep.exe
Xhux.exe
iyiezov.exe
wsxsvc.exe
vmss.exe
GoogleDesktop.exe
packager.exe
prutmct.exe
WebRebates1.exe
tibs3.exe
440.tmp.exe
optimize.exe
sais.exe
Tvm.exe

Turn off System Restore WinXP WinME. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

I am having trouble emptying my recycle bin.  It constantly says "Would you like to delete these 6 items?"  even though there are way more than 6 in there.  Here is my hjt log, its a little better.  There were a few files I could not delete because they were being used and I absolultely can not stop process on prutmct.  It is listed twice and as soon as one closes, it opens again.  I have tried hundreds of times!

Here is my new log, it seems to be getting better, the desktop is still hijacked, only it is now plain white and not an ad.  I can see my actual desktop on the top sliver of my monitor still.

Ok one more time...

Set Windows to show Hidden files and folders
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

wuauclt.exe
prutmct.exe
prvdi.exe
MPPoker.exe

Turn off System Restore WinXP WinME. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = 127.0.0.1
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

Go to Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs and remove the
 following if they are there:

media-motor
betholdemMPP

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

C:\WINDOWS\System32\prutmct.exe
C:\Program Files\E2G\IeBHOs.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\prvdi.exe
C:\Program Files\betholdemMPP\MPPoker.exe

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and Reboot.

In Xp, here are some locations of Temp files

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Turn on System Restore

Before opening your browser goto START>CONTROL PANEL>INTERNET OPTIONS and make sure your Homepage is correct,if not ,type the URL you would like in the HomePage box.

Now re-run HJT and post a new logfile back here.
