Hello Spike420 .. Smiley

Ok first Click Start|Run. Type 'Regedit' and press ENTER. The registry editor opens.

Before you edit the registry, you should make a backup.
On the 'Registry' menu, click 'Export Registry File'. In the 'Export range' panel, click 'All', then save your registry as Backup.

Now...

Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE entry:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
XPSP2 Firewall
<Windows folder>\System32\xpsp2fw.exe
and delete it if it exists.

Each user has a registry area named HKEY_USERS\[code number indicating user]\.
For each user locate the entry:
HKU\[code number]\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
Windows Update Client
<Windows folder>\System32\wuclient.exe
and delete it if it exists.

Close the registry editor

Now...

Please make a folder for Hijackthis.
It's not adviseable to leave it on your desktop, backups will be spread all over your screen ..
Right click an empty spot in the MyDocuments Folder----left click NEW---Folder
Name it HJT---copy and paste hijackthis to that new folder and delete the one on the desktop originally downloaded.
Don't delete backups until everything is running ok...

When your ready...

Set Windows to show Hidden files and folders
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

Shareaza.exe
fts.exe
svchst.exe
kalvlvx32.exe
wuclient.exe
xpsp2fw.exe

Turn off System Restore WinXP WinME. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

Download the program Killbox. Unzip it to it's own folder.
Run the program.
In the bottom right hand corner you will see a drop-down box labelled (System Process.)
Drop that down, and select the active process that is likely to be your main infection reloader.
In your case, that will be: kalvlvx32.exe
Once you have selected that file name, click the yellow triangle with the ! inside it to end that process.

Next, at the top of the window, use the folder icon to browse to: C:\windows\system32\kalvlvx32.exe
Press the red X button to delete that file.

Do this in regular mode first. If it does not work, try it in Safe Mode, except that the exe will probably not be running as a system process in safe mode, so all you will need to do is delete them.

Re-run HJT and post back..

I downloaded killbox, only to find that when i ran it the kalvlvx32.exe was nowhere to be found? So i booted into safe mode and ran HJT, fixed the kalvlvx32.exe one and booted back into XP. Checked HJT and it had two new instances of search miracle selected to fix them and rebooted. Here is my new HJT log, i think it is now clean! I haven't had any popups yet anyway!! So fingers crossed its sorted, thanx so much for your help dude its much appreciated!!!

Not finished yet.. Lips Sealed

Make sure you still have Windows Set to show Hidden files and folders

** CLOSE ALL OPEN WINDOWS **

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

update.exe
wuauclt.exe

Turn off System Restore WinXP WinME. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

O16 - DPF: {74D05D43-3236-11D4-BDCD-00C04F9A3B61} (HouseCall Control) - http://a840.g.akamai.net/7/840/537/2004061001/housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/xscan53.cab

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\S-1-5-18\8b5e9cdb91dddbb342695fbdc36fe0e4\update\update.exe

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and Reboot.

In Xp, here are some locations of Temp files

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Turn on System Restore

Before opening your browser goto START>CONTROL PANEL>INTERNET OPTIONS and make sure your Homepage is correct,if not ,type the URL you would like in the HomePage box.

Now re-run HJT and post a new logfile back here.
