Hello kappy .. Smiley

I noticed you Downloaded HJT to a TEMP folder,always download to a folder OTHER than Temp/Temorary Internet Folders.

EG---- Open MyDocuments----Right click an empty spot and select NEW---Folder----Name the new folder HJT ---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too, also, backups will be stored there.
Download a fresh copy from here:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe
or here:
http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe

Ok...
Set Windows to show Hidden files and folders
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

msupd5.exe
elmhzkct.exe
Gator.exe
GMT.exe
NetSvc.exe

Turn off System Restore WinXP WinME. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

Set Windows to show Hidden files and folders

* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Turn off System Restore WinXP WinME. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

Hmm .. stubborn .. Lips Sealed

Set Windows to show Hidden files and folders

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

wuauclt.exe <<< STOP THIS PROCESS
swdoctor.exe

Turn off System Restore WinXP WinME. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1785CAA5-B8E8-6ED0-6402-DC30C10FF0AE} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {64EB6332-4579-2E9A-E6F1-DE0B2C201DAF} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {DBCE0DC3-F627-7BBB-3C5A-2FBA6CC00D82} - (no file)

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Spyware Doctor] "C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\swdoctor.exe" /Q

Go to Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs and remove the
 following if they are there:

Spyware Doctor

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\swdoctor.exe

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and Reboot.

In Xp, here are some locations of Temp files

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Turn on System Restore

Before opening your browser goto START>CONTROL PANEL>INTERNET OPTIONS and make sure your Homepage is correct,if not ,type the URL you would like in the HomePage box.

Now re-run HJT and post a new logfile back here.

Cactus,

The 02-BHO's are still there. I tried removing them several times. I couldn't find swdoctor.exe or wuauclt.exe in Task Manager but I did swdoctor in prefetch so I deleted it from there.

Here is my log.  Thanks again.

Ok Kappy let's do this in SAFE MODE

Set Windows to show Hidden files and folders

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

In Xp, here are some locations of Temp files

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and Reboot.

Turn on System Restore

Before opening your browser goto START>CONTROL PANEL>INTERNET OPTIONS and make sure your Homepage is correct,if not ,type the URL you would like in the HomePage box.

Now re-run HJT and post a new logfile back here.

NOTE: DELETE THE CONTENTS OF YOUR QUARINTINE FOLDER IN YOUR ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAM

Well, you may not believe this Cactus...(actually you probably will). Those suckers are still there.  I deleted my NAV quarantine, cleared c:/prefetch, booted to Safe Mode and emptied the Temp and TIF files.  Then I emptied Recycle Bin...it was corrupted and I had to recreate it first.

Hee is the log.

Thanks again.

Well, here is my log.  I did the things you mentioned, but I kept ELLA becuase it has proven to be a great SPAM filter for me.

The mystery BHO's are still there and won't go away, but the Google hijack is fixed so they don't appear to be causing any problems.  Do you think it's safe to just leave them alone for know?

Thanks,

David
