PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:Win XP Pro SP2
Problem Application Name & Version:phoenix bios
Problem Hardware Make & Model:Chaintech 7NIF2 4 Channel sound
Error Messages:



I would like to upgrade my AMD processor. currently my motherboard bios is version 3 18/04/03 the latest is version 7.
i would like to know if i can jump from v3 to v7 in one stage.
i have downloaded the latest ver7 but i cannot find instructions for carrying out the update.
do you know where i can find the procedure to follow. i have emailed chaintech but the message comes back as unable to deliver.

Yeah you shouldn't have a problem going from v3 to v7. Can I ask why you want to update your BIOS?? If it ain't broke don't fix it! Sometimes if the computer is working find a BIOS update can mess things up.

Does your current BIOS version not support higher end CPUs? Note that this version is only for 4 channel audio.

the update allows the AMD Sempron proc. to be used.
In answer to my other question, where can i find out the correct procedure to use to carry out the update.

You'll find what you're after here. Click on "How can I update the BIOS" near the top of the page. It will download a word document with all the instructions you'll need.
