Hello, I'm trying to remotely (from Europe to NZ) help someone with a problem with their computer monitor.
They're running Windows 98 Second Edition and have had the previous monitor replaced after two years of owning their computer and monitor with a Sampo AlphaScan GS. Every now and then, the computer will start in safe mode saying the display settings are wrong, that they need to be changed or a new driver sought. This problem is rectified by restarting the computer and all's well (settings have been changed as a feeble (!) attempt to sort out the problem but no change in behaviour so the settings are back to the original state). However, obviously something is wrong and I'm guessing it's the change of monitor and am wondering if a new driver is needed, if so, where can it be found or can existing settings just receive a few 'tweaks' to compensate? Like I say, I'm guessing at this point.
Would appreciate any advice and thanks for your time,
Glyn

Try changing the monitor type to "PNP monitor" or download monitor inf file for this monitor from the manufacturers website.
