can you help me i have an e machine 3220 i have had it for just under a year now and i installed a dvd writer drive into and thats working fine but only last week my cd rom drive wont work when i click on my computer it say i have only my 3 and half floppy drive and my dvd writter drive but no cd rom Huh? the power is still going to it as the drawer still opens and shuts but nothing will work when i put a cd in . can you help??? this is my first time on this site so i am not sure were to check to fix this problem..

Goto DEVICE MANAGER and tell me if the CD-ROM shows up shows up there...

Question: Where did you install the DVD drive to? At the middle of the IDE ribbon of the harddrive, or at the middle of the IDE ribbon of the CDROM? Did you place the correct jumpers on the DVD drive? Did you make it Slave, after checking the other drive on the IDE ribbon cable was set to Master?

yes it was all working fine for the last 8 months it just stop working a couple od days ago Huh?
