When i try to start most games, mostly 3d games, an error message comes up telling me something about my direct 3d. For example, i downloaded a game from www.shockwave.com called blackhawk striker that uses "advanced requirements." I downloaded it without a problem and installed it without a problem, but when i started the program, a message appears saying "ERROR- No 3D Hardware Acceleration found. Your Graphics Card May Not Support 3D Acceleration in the Current Color Depth, or Your DirectX Version May be Too Old."
I am not sure what the problem is, because i used to play games like this all the time, before i got Microsoft Windows 2000. I used to have Windows 98, and other games, like Madden NFL 2002, which also uses advanced requirements, was working. But now I have Windows 2000 on the same exact computer and Madden will not work, displaying a message similar to the one above.
I have the DirectX verion 8.1, and when i go into DxDiag, under the tab DISPLAY, I see that DirectDraw Acceleration, and AGP Texture Acceleration are working and enabled, but Direct3d Acceleration is not available. I have uninstalled DirectX and Reinstalled it many times, and I seem to have the latest version. My Graphics card is the same i think because i am pretty sure that all that got changed to my computer was the Windows Upgrade to 2000. Whats wrong?Huh?Huh?
