I have had this problem for a little while now and tried posting on various newsgroups and forums without any success.
The computer keeps slowing down \ jerking to the point of not being able to play larger games like Diablo 2, Noone lives forever 2 etc.
I have tried changing OS's from XP to 98se without any luck
Have got all the latest drivers for everything, cleaned out dust, made sure it's not overheating, installed windows with the barest hardware and still nothing.  Changed my mouse from USB to PS2, tried cach and memory programs.

I am running an AOpen AX34 Pro II mobo
Celeron 850 CPU
650 megs ram
30 gig HD
ASSUS 7100 geforce2 mx 400 video card
soundblaster live special edition 5.1

Can anyone please help, this is getting so frustrating.

Thanks in advance

The problem might be programs running in the background.  Do you have a lot of icons on the right side of your task bar?  This will slow a PC down.

When did the problem start to accure? Did you add any ram to system recently?

Try removing the ram that you added to the system, see if this helps with the slowdown issue. If it does then I would say you have faulty ram or that type of ram is not compatible with your current ram.

I did what you said, it's a full day and no slowdowns, usually they start straight away so it loooks like that might have been the problem, RAM was the one thing I never thought of lol

Thank you very much for that, muchly appreciated
