PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: Windows Xp pro service pack 2
Problem Application Name & Version: v2.EF/W2.00*
Problem Hardware Make & Model: Artec BKM 52x16c
Error Messages: none

My Combo Drive from Artec is no longer recognizing any type of blank disk may it be a CD-R or CD-RW from wallmart or from FRY's electronics. In device manager it says that it is a standard CDROM and I coan't update the driver, for the Manufacturer provided none. I have tried to update the firm ware but it won't work will still in windows. I can't boot up on floopy to update since I did away with the (what I thought was) useless drive. Please I've seen some others with the same problem yet none of them were really answered. If any one can provide help I would be so grateful. Thanks in advance for any help or info provided.

How new is your computer? If it's from the last 4 or 5 years, it should be capable of booting from CD. If it is, try booting from say, a Linux bootable CD, or even a Windows 2000 or XP bootable CD. That will give you some idea if it's working or not, regardless of whether Windows is working properly.

Has anyone found a solution to this issue? I, too, am in the same boat.  The drive works fine as just a cd/dvd drive, reads fine, but wont recognize a blank cd.  the flash program they have to use in windows says "cannot change drive to up mode?"..Any ideas???

Thanks
