PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:
Problem Application Name & Version:Windows ME
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

Does anybody know anything about the Canon Powershot A40 digital camera?  I got one for Christmas and I can put the CF card into my printer slot and download any pictures that I take, however, when I take a movie video with sound and movement, the card will not download and when I try it with a USB port...still...no luck.  I have no idea how to correct the problem.

Have you tried leaving the card in the camera, then connect the camera to the pc. You should then get a removable media drive. Then you should be able to copy the video from the media drive to your hard drive (c: drive).

Hello tincan

You received the following message from: Gere

At: http://www.mytechsupport.ca/support/

Thanks for your advice.  I have connected my camera via the USB port to my computer but still no luck.  I get a message:  "cannot connect to video device" and "cannot find VFW driver"

You should of gotten a cd with your camera. Browse the cd for a driver folder or a usb folder. In one of these folder you should see and ini file. Right click on the ini file and select install. You probably just need the driver for the camera installed.

P.S. Please post all questions in the forum and not by email. Thank You.

Regarding my posting about my new digital camera for Christmas and the many helpful replies that I received (thanks to all); in the end, the reason that I was unable to download from my Canon A40 via the USB port, was that my anti-virus program had to be uninstalled first, then the camera installed, then the virus program reinstalled.  This may be of assistance to somebody else....I hope.  It is just the way it worked on my Windows ME.

I am still not sure if I am posting this message to the correct area, so forgive me if it should go some other place.

Thanks again for all your help and advice in regard to my camera
