PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: Windows 98 Gold (Win9x 4.10.1998)
Problem Application Name & Version: Internet Explorer v6.00 (6.00.2600.0000)
Problem Hardware Make & Model:AMD
Error Messages:BHO

Hi there

I know that there've been alot of se.dll threads made here, but after reading them and trying as hard as I can with my own resources I'm feeling drained here. I had problems with the hidden dll about:blank trojan or whatever it is in the past, but fixed them and they never resurfaced. Now, however, I'm having the same problems again literally every single day. Every day I delete se.dll, the registry keys involved with it, delete the hidden dll in safe mode, run HJT, fix suspected problems, run adaware se, run spybot, run cwsshredder, and google for help. Still, every day, se.dll regenerates, the hidden dll regenerates, my homepage gets changed, and I get frequent popups.

It even happens on days when I haven't used the computer all day. I think I've typed enough here sorry to have you read so much but I'm feelin a little desperate.

Heres my log:
(id like to note that i dont have that many IE windows open, it just says in my task manager iexplore a whole bunch of times for some reason)

I would have fixed the obvious problems such as the KKHCO.dll and the about:blank keys but as I said it regenerates too fast for me to fix then scan again.

Thanks in advance

Hello and Welcome to MyTechSupport.ca

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

You have placed HJT on your Desktop. Please move to a proper location before doing the fix.
(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders or Desktop. A good place to make a folder would be in My Documents, as this is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)

Download / Install / Update / and Run:
Adaware SE check for any updates before running it.
Get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. You can download it at this SITE
To run this tool, install to the hard drive, then open Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection.

Download and install Spybot S&D . Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the Fix Selected Problems button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix and install it over the current Spybot installation.

Scan your pc with Housecall. Its a free online scanner. Be sure to put a check the box beside AutoClean

Download   FixAgent and unzip it.  Run FixAgent.exe.  It should fix something.  If nothing is fixed, skip to the next step for the HijackThis fixes.  If something is found, also download home_missing_114 and unzip it.  Run the Home winkey missing batch file.  Remember: ONLY run home_missing_114 if FixAgent found something.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there.  Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. You will use this later.

Go to My Computer >Tools >Folder Options >View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing / visible. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files option.

Reboot your system in Safe Mode (By repeatedly tapping the F8 key until the menu appears).

Open Hijack This and click on Scan. Check the following entries (make sure you do not miss any)

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\se.dll/sp.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\se.dll/sp.html

Please remember to close all other windows, including browsers then click Fix checked.

Delete the following Files indicated in RED and Folders indicated in BLUE if they still exist.

 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\KKHCO.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\SE.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\KKHCO.DLL

Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button.  When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.
Empty your Recycle Bin.

Reboot your System in normal mode.

Please post a fresh Hijack This log so that we can check if your system is clean.

FYI
It is essential to keep your computer's operating system and programs in top condition.  That means keeping up with applying patches, hotfixes and service packs. Make sure that your Operating System and Internet Explorer are up-to-date by visiting the  Windows Update Site and downloading all of the Critical Updates and Service Packs. Your system is NOT up-to-date.

Looks like its clean to me, but looking at recently created files, I found one named JOE0G1.ACL. I dont remember that being there until about a week ago, around the same time as when this **** started. Have you ever heard of something like it?

Just like to post that I deleted JOE0G1.ACL and every single one of my problems seems to have disappeared. For two days now the se.dll and hidden dll have failed to reproduce, my homepage no longer goes to other sites, and iexplore does not appear five hundred times in my task manager. If anyone else has problems like mine look for a relatively new file named (your name)***.ACL, and delete it.
