PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: Windows XP SP2
Problem Application Name & Version: NTL Broadband
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages: Page cannot be displayed and no OE retrieval of messages

Hi. Am a newbie to the www web! I have broadband connection through my set-top box (NTL) and through USB EZconnect ethernet?

Usually my pc works fine and can browse the web, and retrieve emails through OE.  Although for the past couple of months my connection has apparently dropped and get messages sayng 'cannot display page' on IE and not retrieveing messages on OE.  Its says I am offline.  When I go to Network Connections, it shows I am still connected.

Have tried pinging and works most of the time, although not always, but still cannot browse on IE.

Contact NTL who have done a series of tests and say there is nothing wrong with the connection.  I usually have to restart pc to get a connection.

Can anyone help please.
regards

I suggest you read this excellent Hijack This HowTo.
Then download the program from http://www.tomcoyote.com/hjt/ and then post a log in a new thread in the Security and Viruses Forum.

Something simple to check first. When in IE, go to File, scroll down to Work Offline. Is that checked? If it is, click on it once with your left mousebutton.

Did that help?

I have checked whether the 'work offline' is ticked or not and it is not.  Have now submitted a HiJackThis log file in the Security and Viruses forum.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
Many thanks
