Operating System Version:Windows ME
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

I'm not sure where to post this.  I used to be able to defrag my disks, but it no longer works.  There seems to be something asks me to run Scan Disk and that doesn't appear to work because it takes forever and when I click on "legend" to see the progress, there is just a blank page.

Is it possible to download a program that we enable me to defrag?  I'm nervous in case I damage something.  I believe that through time you have to I right?

First off, let's move this the the Microsoft forum, it's okay there. (Not Programming) Smiley

Second, NTFS doesn't fragment as much as FAT32 does, yet since you have WinME that's not a question to ask.

So third, if you are doing a scandisk, make sure that absolutely no other programs are in memory that can access the harddrive, as each time an access is made to the drive, scandisk will restart.

Fourth, try doing both scandisk and defrag with PCHealth disabled. That's one of the devious ones that keep checking the harddrive even if you have everything else disabled.
